Our History
Early Days
The Oxford Cultural Arts Commission began in 1979 as an outgrowth of the Junior Women's Club of Oxford with an interest in offering cultural events, free of charge to the town. This soon became "the summer concerts" at the Oxford Gazebo, which were very successful.

The OCAC has since enriched the town with a variety of other cultural events: performances for children in the schools, art shows, entertainment for senior citizens, holiday celebrations, art auctions and art scholarships.

The purpose was to further promote and insure the future of the arts in the town of Oxford.
1994 Statement of Purpose
"The Oxford Cultural Arts Commission functions to promote and insure the future of the arts in the town of Oxford. We are doing this by offering the town such cultural events as summer concerts, school related art projects, special performances and art scholarships. We are working towards setting up and Arts Endowment Fund which will be earmarked for significant creative projects."
